Can Heat Pumps Work with My Existing Radiators?

Yes, many heat pumps work perfectly well with existing radiators. However, because heat pumps operate at lower flow temperatures than gas boilers, radiator suitability must be assessed.

Larger or modern radiators tend to perform best because they can deliver the same warmth using lower water temperatures. In some cases, upgrading a few key radiators improves system efficiency and comfort.

A professional heat-loss survey identifies whether any changes are needed. This ensures the system is tailored to your home rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Underfloor heating is another excellent partner for heat pumps because it works at low temperatures and distributes heat evenly, but it is not a requirement for installation.

Most modern air-source heat pumps can provide cool air in addition to heating. They function as a two-in-one system by reversing the refrigeration cycle, extracting heat from inside the home, and releasing it outside. Air-to-air systems are particularly effective at cooling, while some air-to-water systems can also provide this functionality.
